01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Made with Japanese-grown lemons, surume’s moist lemon cake is one of the treats visitors remember. Some have found its texture similar to a madeleine, while others have enjoyed the tang of the icing on top. Paired with coffee, it makes a fitting afternoon snack.

The focus is on filter coffee, hand-dripped to order from a list of beans (800 yen). You can describe what you like and ask for a recommendation; AeroPress brewing is also available on request. Some customers have praised the coffee for being clean and easy to drink, while others have enjoyed the acidity characteristic of a light roast. Choose a filter coffee to compare the beans’ distinctive qualities, or, if you fancy something with milk, try a latte made with espresso from the signature beans and Hokkaido Yotsuba milk (hot or iced, 700 yen). Lattes and flat whites can be made decaffeinated for an extra 100 yen, or made with oat milk for an extra 100 yen.

Scones come in around 3 to 5 varieties, including plain, brown sugar and walnut, and matcha with white chocolate. If you’re dining in, they’re warmed in a toaster before serving, making one with a latte a good breakfast option.

You can eat in or take your order away, and there is also terrace seating. If you enjoy the coffee, house-roasted beans are available to buy from 100g for 1,250 yen; they can be ground on request.
